space studio

Space Studio was set up in 2006 as a not-for-profit collaborative space with an aim to support emerging artists across various disciplines and promote creative practice.

The studio is located inside Alembic City which was stenciled out from an out-of-use distillery plant. An interesting thing about all the spaces within the estate is their industrial aesthetic which has been kept intact contributing to its characteristic mood offering a sanctuary. The facility has seven studio spaces (with one dedicated to printmaking) for artists and hosts three to four groups of residencies throughout the year calling applicants from all over the country. Apart from a studio space to work in, the residencies also focus on masterclasses, field trips and mentorship programs. At the end of every residency, the studio hosts an exhibition where the audience can interact with the artists and facilitate a dialogue between the community, art and the practitioners.
